ImageWhen the student's ready, the teacher will appear. - Zen Proverb

Everyone wants to be a winner. Everyone wants to succeed - in business and life. But many dare not take the first step. Worse, many give up while their goals are within reach. They do not persevere because they are afraid. They are afraid because they do not know how to reach their goals.

However, as the Zen Proverb indicates, when you are ready to commit and focus on a worthy goal, whatever you need will appear. While this seems bizzarre and unbelievable, many successful people swear by it. Spiritual leaders, like Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, call it synchronicity. Anthony Robbins, a world renowed motivational speaker, call it Reticular Activating System (RAS). Whatever you call it is unimportant. What is important is that it exists; it can work for you if you trust it. If you are still unconvinced, let me tell you a story:

My career dream is to become a professional public speaker. I learned from a talk in May 1999 that in order to become one, you need to establish credibility. To do that, you need to share your ideas with others, either by starting your own publications or writing articles for others. While I appreciated the talk very much, I felt overwhelmed at the time. How am I going to start my own publications that people will read? How am I going to share my ideas when no one wants them? Fortunately, I had faith. I trusted the Zen proverb. I knew the right opportunity will come to show me the way. I just had to keep my eyes open.

Later, I went to a Toastmasters officer training session. There I met Duncan, who had this website. He never told me he had his own website. He never told me he was looking for article submissions. But I kept my eyes open. I asked for his business card. I went to his website to take a look. Behold! Big Dreams ! There's the answer; I found a way to share my ideas.

Whether it is a career opportunity, an extraordinary person you meet by chance, or a timely seminar that provide the guidance and tools you need, they will all come to you when you are ready for them. Do not compromise your business and personal goals. Stick with them even when things seem impossible. To succeed, keep your eyes open for opportunities, and always trust in the adage adopted by successful people: When you are ready, the teacher will come.

Eric, I love your article! I was doing some research on this qoute and your information was just what I needed. This is another tribute to the validity of this proverb! I wish you much success!

Liz, :-)
